Boho Days and Boogie Nights

lighterversion112113119DSC_3714 - Version 2115114new118new116121

– Dress, ZARA / Cape, Vintage (Camberwell Market) / Earrings, Sportsgirl / Turquoise necklace, My design / Green necklace, Colette / Tassel Necklace and rings, Ishka / Tomorrow’s Wind (crystal) Necklace, Elixir via SaveTheLastPinker / Floppy hat, Glassons / Shoes, Merchant

I can’t help but love this post! The colours, the layers, the jewels, the fun! This outfit really embodies everything that I love about living in a warmer climate. Speaking of warmth, spring is really starting to feel like summer here in Melbourne. So of course when we experienced our first hot sunny day, I hunted down the biggest, most floppy summer hat that I could get my pretty little hands on! It also turned out to be quite the attractive purchase as well, ringing in at a smashing $20.00, thank you very much! Hit that shit up girl!

Now I know what you’re thinking, “That cape is so ballin, I gotta get me one of those bad boys on my body riiiight noooow!” Well I’ve got some good and bad news for you. Lets start with the bad news so that we can end this lovely experience on a high, shall we? Unfortunately (for you, not me!) the cape is vintage. Now the fact that the actual garment is vintage isn’t the negative here, that’s pretty awesome. Buuuut, because this beautiful red woollen masterpiece is in fact vintage, chances of there being more available for purchase are slim to natta! Don’t get downhearted though! There’s so so much more vintage greatness in store for you ahead! Wanna know how I can tell? Here’s the good bit of the story!

I just so happened to purchase this cape at a wonderful market, that takes place every Sunday, right here in Melbs! If you haven’t heard of the Camberwell Market yet, you’re so very welcome! I’ve just changed your life! Trust me, get on over there next Sunday and your life will never be the same. And for god sakes girl, take at least three environmental/re-useable cloth bags with you because you’re gonna be hauling a lot of shit home! Basically this market is ginormous and is compromised of local designer apparel, accessories, used furniture and clothing, antiques and pretty much anything that can be sold. Did I also mention that there are heaps of beautiful fresh flowers to purchase and yummy coffee to drink!

If you do end up going on an adventure to the market, instagram your hunted treasures and tag me @youngonehunting I’d love to see what you find! Happy hunting!

Stripes, Vintage and Crystals… Oh my!

yellowtwoyellowoneyellowthree– Top, Vintage / pants, ZARA / belt, borrowed from a man-friend / shoes, florsheim / necklace, SaveTheLastPinker

The power of the statement necklace is stronger than ever!
Some people find it challenging when it comes to spending their precious fashion funds. Lucky you, this well-known dilemma just so happens to be my area of expertise!! My wardrobe mainly consists of tops and bottoms that have been given to me, that I’ve purchased on sale, or that I’ve found in op-shops. I usually spend very little cash when it comes to clothing. Which seems to be the opposite of most people.
So where do my fashion penny’s end up, you ask? The answer is simple; shoes and designer jewellery! I feel more than silly when I point out the comparison between Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City, and myself. And No, I’m not referring to her sex column and immense man dramas… I’m talking about her obsession with shoes and all things sparkly and beautiful!
It’s pretty amazing how one piece of jewellery can transform an outfit. In this outfit post i’m wearing a top that I purchased in Canada from a vintage boutique for $7.00. My pants are from ZARA and I borrowed the belt from a man friend. So far these pieces are fine, but its that stunner of a necklace that really pulls everything together. Wearing all of these pieces without the amazing jewellery is like having a margarita without the salt. It’s just not the same! Does the salt actually serve a purpose? Marginally, but without the salt, the good old marg becomes just another boring drink.
On top of that brilliant metaphor, think of it this way… I have jewels that my grandmother cherished when she was my age. Her jewellery has stood the test of time and still looks amazing today. This proves that you can easily keep your beloved jewels for years to come and love them just the same. Now ask yourself, are you still wearing half of the clothing that you purchased five years ago? Now I’m not advising you to stop purchasing clothing! That would be down right mad. I’m simply pointing out the awesomeness of statement jewellery. A word of caution however, once you start collecting those stand out pieces of jewellery its hard to stop! Virtually impossible some would even say! Worth it? Hells yeah it is! Enjoy.

POM POM FUN TIME

Necklace and c/o bracelet (Emeldo) via SaveTheLastPinker / Scarf, Vintage (similar here) / Top, ZARA / Skirt, Cameo the label / Shoes, Steve Madden

As you can tell I am a massive fan of local designer label, Emeldo. This is my second necklace from the label and I absolutely love it! Nothing really screams more fun than pom poms and neon! I am such a believer in statement pieces. I will invest whatever it takes to have that standout necklace or pair of shoes. Accessories have so much impact on a wardrobe and can transform boring outfits into amazing ensembles! The key is to not be scared with fashion and just go for it!

I’ve always been confident with mixing patterns and colours. My general rule is “If its considered bright, ugly or weird… it’s going to look amazing!” To put some perspective into place, here’s a photo from an earlier post of mine, featuring another Emeldo necklace. Instead of keeping the colours simple and focusing on textures, I went all out in print mixing. Crazy just how versatile one piece of jewellery can be eh?!

Whats your favourite Emeldo piece? Get excited because you may just end up owning one sooner than you think! Great things are to come on YoungOneHunting!!

Emeldo X Save The Last Pinker

necklacetwo necklaceone

So my latest obsession has been the jewellery label Emeldo by Melbourne designer Emily Dornbusch. Needless to say, I wish I owned every single piece! I had purchased her Yolunda necklace from Save The Last Pinker. I pretty much wore it everyday since it had arrived in the mail. Unfortunately I thought it would be a great idea to wear it out in Fitzroy drinking and dancing and you guessed it, I no longer own my beautiful Yolunda necklace (insert sad face here). I’ve put it down to two options with the latter being the most likely. Either I have gotten home in a drunken state and thought best to hide it, from myself, in the most amazing hiding spot ever on this planet… or it’s on the dirty dance floor of the night cat or hanging up in a bathroom stall… My only hope is that some other girl has found it and has given it a good home!

Don’t get too upset though… with every piece of jewellery lost, a new one is purchased! The only problem I face now is which necklace should I choose? 1. The beautiful Patrice Necklace or 2.  The Pinks Necklace? Help a girl out would ya!?

Flower Power Fun Time

Inspiration: Frida Kahlo

Happy Canada Day everyone! Yesterday Chris and I went to The Wharf Hotel for some Canadian beer, Poutine and Beavertails! (its a desert, not actual beavertails). It was a great celebration and instead of rocking the usual plaid flannel and denim jeans, I decided to celebrate by wearing one of my brightest most fun outfits! Side note, I really need to start wearing sunglasses in all of my posts! I have the most awful blank expressions in every photo! Some of us were meant to be models… and some of us are gifted with self expression through styling. Unfortunately the “smize” doesn’t come with the latter and thats why sunglasses were invented! Now I just need to remember to wear them for every shoot. Oh well, I warned you!
